A new Amazon fulfillment center has been approved to be built in Lakeville, MN. It was approved this past Monday evening by the Lakeville City Council. They report that the new fulfillment center will create "hundreds of full-time jobs" according to WCCO.

The new Amazon fulfillment center will be 750,000 sqft and located at the "southwest corner of 217th Street and Dodd Road." They are expected to open next year, which seems like a super quick turnaround to me but hey, I'm not complaining, that is awesome!

The mayor of Lakeville, Doug Anderson, expressed his excitement to add Amazon to the community. Amazon representative Kirsten Wenker also shared the company's excitement to expand more throughout Minnesota. WCCO reports that "according to Amazon, the company has invested more than $2 billion in Minnesota." That includes "infrastructure and compensation to employees in the state."

The new fulfillment center will have "innovative technologies" which will allow them to fulfill larger purchases like grills, mattresses, and exercise equipment.

I am excited about this addition to Southern Minnesota. I would think it would allow for faster Amazon delivery times, we should be able to get large items faster, and it creates more full-time jobs in Southern Minnesota. That is awesome!
