Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - Thousands of motorcyclists are cruising the highways that follow the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers from the Twin Cities to Winona today for the 55th Annual Flood Run.

The Minnesota State Patrol and local law enforcement agencies along the route have extra personnel on duty to help make it a safe event for everyone involved. The State Patrol is urging motorcycle riders and other drivers to use extra care and share the roads.

The Fall Flood Run is a fundraiser for Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare. It got its start in 1965 when a group of motorcyclists traveled from the Twin Cities to Winona to help fill sandbags and provide other assistance during the devastating flood.
