5 Easy Ways to Help the Earth on Earth Day
Happy Earth Day! I almost completely forgot that it's Earth Day but today is a great day to remind ourselves of different ways we can help the environment.
I went to a high school and college that were both very focused on ways to be more environmentally friendly, how we can change our habits to make the earth a cleaner place, so I think it's really important that we all do our part! Even if you just do a little bit, it's better than nothing.
Here are a few things that you can start doing this Earth Day to help the planet:
- 1
Start Using Reusable Containers for Lunch
You'll throw away less if you use reusable containers for your lunches. There are even reusable ziplock bags and I can tell you from first-hand experience that they're awesome!
- 2
Start a Recycling Bin
If you don't already recycle start a recycling bin at home, at work, or both! You can just start with the basics, like recycling paper, cardboard, pop cans, etc. If you already recycle, think about how you can recycle even more, or maybe even consider starting a compost bin.
- 3
Take a Walk and Pick Up Trash
Maybe don't do this today because of the rain but one day, grab a trash bag and some gloves and pick up trash while you take a walk. It's getting warmer out so this is a great excuse to get outside!

Don't Use Plastic Straws
If you remember, ask your server at restaurants to not put a straw in your glass. Lots of restaurants now ask if you want a straw or not, making it much easier. And at home, you can use reusable stainless steel straws.

Use Reusable Bags for Grocery Shopping
Even getting paper bags instead of plastic is better, but if you can, bring reusable bags. If you don't have reusable bags, I know TJMaxx has a bunch for 99 cents. Some places give you a discount if you bring your own bags too!
