3-Pointers Barrage Leads Caledonia Past La Crescent
The Caledonia Warriors connected on 16 3-pointers, from five different players, as the Warriors dominated the La Crescent Lancers in the second half to a 79-45 win in the Section 1AA playoffs.
The Warriors started out with hot shooting to build their lead to 21-10 quickly in the first half. Caledonia was able to use their defense to force turnovers and didn't waste any time getting off easy looks from deep against the Lancers 1-3-1 defense.
Noah King was dynamite, scoring 21 points, all from beyond the 3-point line, while Owen King chipped in 17. Sam Barthel added 12, while Marten Morem had 10.
The Warriors defense locked down in the first, holding the Lancers to just 26 points, and more importantly a 40-26 lead at the break.
La Crescent attacked the basket well and got some nice play from Ben Nelson and Romy Whitford, but they couldn't get their offense going in the second half. Caledonia came storming out of the gate, building their lead to 52-29 in a hurry.
The 10-3 run was the big key for the Warriors as they carried on to a 79-45 win.
The Warriors hot shooting from deep was the difference maker in this one, and combine that with some terrific defense, the Warriors advance to the Subsection Championship Game Saturday at 5pm vs. St. Charles.
