A small town in Minnesota, that has quite the history.

St. Peter today is known for being the home of Gustavus Adolphus College. But did you know that it was almost the Capitol of Minnesota. Yes, it almost was. The website onlyinyourstate.com has a nice little story about the small town.

The story goes that in 1857, a politician was holed up in a hotel in the Twin Cities. Had the bill he had been signed my the territory governor, Minnesota's capitol would not have been St. Paul.

But St. Peter today looks like quite the neat little town. And is full of history, because it is a pretty old little town. There are a ton of buildings that are on the National Register of Historic Places.

Of course with any little town in Minnesota, a river runs through it, so fishing and boating are on the activities as well.

So if you are a bit of a history person like me, take a trip up to St. Peter. See one of the towns that helped shape Minnesota into the State it is today.
