Friday night, KFIL broadcasted the Three Rivers boy's basketball game between Chatfield and Kingsland. Kingsland had won the previous meeting by five, and we expected a good rematch. The Gophers entered the game losers of 13 straight, and hungry for a win. The Knights held an eight point lead at one point in the first half, but the Gophers ended the first half with a 13-3 run. Chatfield lead 29-26 at the break. Kingsland quickly tied the game at 29 at the onset of the second half. The Gophers scored the next six points, and would hold the lead the rest of the way. The final score was 58-53 in favor of Chatfield.

The “Player of the Game” awards went to Quinn Larson of the Knights. Quinn found his stroke in the first half, draining three 3-pointers, scoring 13 in the first half alone. He tacked on ten more in the second half, including 5 of 6 free throws in the final minute as he was able to draw not one, but two fouls on Chatfield attempting long three point shots. He finished with a game-high 23 points. Chatfield's P-O-G was Tristin Aguiar, who doubled his average output with 12 points. Tristin went 4 for 4 from the free throw line down the stretch in the second half, and pitched in two assists and two steals.

The “Game Ball” was awarded to Carter Duxbury of the Gophers. Carter also scored a dozen for Chatfield, and was a very tough presence inside on the glass. He scored eight of his twelve in the second half, and also had a couple big free throws as the Gophers were holding on for the win.
