Yesterday, Cool 104 broadcasted the softball game between Fillmore Central/Lanesboro and Grand Meadow/Le Roy-Ostrander/Kingsland.

The Falcons got off to a soaring start with five runs in the first inning, aided by a couple walks and errors given up by GMLOK. After pushing the lead to 6-0 in the top of the third inning, the Falcons offense stalled and the Bulldogs bats warmed up. A single tally in the bottom of the third was followed by a 3-run fourth, and GMLOK was right back in the game. The three runs were scored on a two-out, bases-clearing double by junior catcher Gracie Schmidt after two Falcons collided dropping a foul ball pop-up. The Bulldogs cut the deficit to one with a run in the fifth, and tied the game at 6 in the bottom of the seventh. It was on to extra innings for the second game in a row for us on Cool 104!

In the top of the eighth, junior shortstop Bailey Barnes for the Falcons led off with a single, and after a sacrifice bunt, scored on an RBI single by Anna Jorgenson to put FC/L back in front. It would be the only run of the inning, and Fillmore Central/Lanesboro would grab the victory 7-6.

The ‘Player of the Game’ for GMLOK was Gracie Schmidt. She blasted two doubles and drove in three runs, plus was very solid behind the plate for the Bulldogs. For the Falcons, it was senior second baseman Megan Hendrickson. Megan went 3-5 with an RBI, stolen base, and a run scored, and made a couple very nice plays on the defensive side.

Our next broadcast is back in baseball action Thursday 4/28. We have Spring Grove visiting Mabel-Canton in a rivalry renewal game. Pregame set for 4:15pm on KFIL Radio & kfilradio.com.
