Thursday night, KFIL broadcasted the boy's basketball game between #2-ranked Spring Grove and #6-ranked Rushford-Peterson. The gym was full as two of the best clashed in Rushford. Spring Grove built an eight-point lead in the first half, only to see it vanish with R-P ending the first half on an 8-0 run to take a one-point lead into the locker room 27-26. The Lions exploded at the start of the 2nd half, going on a 14-0 run to take a 40-27 lead, and holding the Trojans scoreless in the second session until the 11:21 mark.  R-P would cut the lead back to eight, but get no closer as the Lions pulled away again for a 15 point win. The final score was 54-39, as the Lions snapped a 9-game losing streak to the Trojans.

The “Player of the Game” awards went to Caleb Thompson of the Trojans (8pts, 7 rebounds, 4 assists), and Brady Schuttemeier of the Lions (13 pts, 5 reb).

The “Game Ball” was awarded to Alex Englehardt of Spring Grove. Alex had 12 points, all in the first half, with 4 3-point field goals. He also grabbed 4 rebounds and had 3 steals.

Last night, KFIL broadcasted the boy's basketball game between Grand Meadow and Kingsland. Kingsland was without their top scorer due to illness, but battled in the first half. GM started fast with a 10-1 lead, and held the lead at seven at the break, 27-20. The Superlarks quickly pushed the lead to double figures in half number two, and each time Kingsland seemed to be on the verge of a momentum swing, the Superlarks had the answer. The Knights offense fizzled, and GM went on to a 60-41 win.

The “Player of the Game” awards went to Eaen O'Byrne of the Knights (9 points on three 3's), and Terrell Rieken of the Superlarks. Rieken was wreaking havoc on the Knights all night, scoring 15 in the first half and ending with 28 plus 4 blocked shots, and I'm sure double digit rebounds as well.

The “Game Ball” was awarded to Mark Cotten of Grand Meadow. Mark, averaging four points per contest, stepped up big with 11 points, 3 assists, and did a great job of attacking the glass.
