Ben grew up in Mabel, Minnesota before going on to get a degree from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. He spent much of his youth listening to Twins games on KFIL. Ben moved on and wrote articles for his college sports website and also wrote Rochester Honkers game summaries while interning with Townsquare Media in Rochester. Ben likes most all the sports, though he knows the letdown that is associated with the Minnesota teams. One of his first CD's was Alan Jackson, and you can hear a mix of country music, from Merle Haggard to Taylor Swift when Ben is on air.

Ben’s Independence Day Shenanigans
Yesterday, we remembered the history of this country on Independence Day. One good way to spend it? Playing base ball.
Yes, two words. You've heard about my exploits for sure. So the trip to Historic Forestville. I toured around a little bit (in full 1860s base ball attire of course), and saw some sights...

Spring Grove Saturday
After riding my bicycle around on a cool Saturday morning, I headed over to Spring Grove once again for their Homecoming celebration. There was a whole lot going on, and some Spring Grove pop was definitely consumed.
I got there in time to see the Spring Grove Veterans Memorial dedication...

Polka Kicks Off Spring Grove Homecoming
The Jim Busta Band (with Mollie B) performed last night in the Spring Grove Fest Building on the first evening of Spring Grove Homecoming. Stating that the building was packed would have been an understatement! I chose to stand so I didn't accidentally take someone's spot...
Steak Fry A Big Hit
The Fillmore County Cattlemen put on their steak fry on Monday, and though I was not able to make it, Shari was.
The information I had received had said that the event started at 6:00. Well, Shari said that by that time about 100 people had already gone through the line and gotten their food...
B&B Bowl Ribbon Cutting
Monday afternoon was the ribbon cutting ceremony at B&B Olympic Bowl in Preston. After the fire on January 1, 2016, the bowling alley/restaurant was rebuilt and opened back up for business late January this year. And you could tell the place was missed for that year - it seemed as if nobody had eaten or bowled in the year between!
