The Chatfield Gophers were back in action on Cool 104 after a tough loss to a talented Rochester Lourdes team. The Gophers were pitted against another talented team in Zumbrota-Mazeppa Tuesday night, and it was a total pitchers duel. The Cougars won this one 1-0, eliminating the Chatfield Gophers.

Lexi Chase got the start for Chatfield, and Lindsey Quam the start for ZM. The two hurler combined to give up one run, 10 hits and had 21 strikeouts. Yes, an impressive performance from each.

The Cougars scored the lone run of the game in the third. Quam hit a single, stole second, and then scored on a RBI-single from Tara Matuska. That 1-0 score would hold.

Chase was fantastic on the mound for the Gophers. She did a great job of throwing on both sides of the plate, and executing all of her fielding duties en route to the KVGO Player of the Game award. It was just the one lone run that kept the Gophers from the Section Title game.

The Gophers threatened in the fifth, when McKenna Daniels ripped a single and advanced all the way to third, but was thrown out on a nice play by the Cougars as she was caught leaning a little to far home on a bunt attempt by Kim Greiner.

It was a fantastic season by the Gophers, although they may not have reached their goal, they played fantastic softball all year.

With the loss, the Gophers end their season with a 22-2 record.

KVGO Player of the Game (Chatfield) - Lexi Chase

KVGO Player of the Game (Z-M) - Lindsey Quam
