Young Men Cited for Racing on Hwy. 52 in Rochester
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two young men were cited for allegedly racing on Hwy. 52 in Rochester last week.
The citation indicates a Minnesota State Trooper was conducting stationary radar shortly after 7 p.m. on the 2nd St. Southwest onramp when he spotted two northbound vehicles approaching the 2nd St. Southwest overpass at a high rate of speed.
The trooper reportedly clocked one vehicle traveling at 92 mph in the 60 mph zone. The trooper said a second vehicle was slowing down and came in at 84 mph.
The vehicles were seen side-by-side as they continued northbound, the citation says. The trooper was able to stop the vehicles north of the overpass. The citation indicates the lead driver admitted the two vehicles were racing.
The drivers are identified as 18-year-old Alexander Arch of Fountain and 20-year-old Hunter Vandyke of Chatfield. Each driver was cited for speeding and reckless driving; racing on a street or highway.
