Consumer Reports recently "analyzed 50 nationally distributed baby foods checking for cadmium, lead, mercury, and inorganic arsenic, the type most harmful to health," KARE 11 stated.

They found that 68% of the baby foods tested showed a "'worrisome'" amount of heavy metal was present. 15 of those products showed amounts that could pose a health risk if eaten on a daily basis.

The products that typically contained the most amounts of heavy metal contained rice and sweet potatoes. Consumer Reports also clarifies that "organic foods were as likely to contain heavy metals as conventional foods."
