Starting in the 2019-20 season, Wisconsin high schools will add a shot clock to their games in boy boys and girls basketball, which brings up the question....is Minnesota next?

Should there be a shot clock in Minnesota high school basketball? That is for you to decide, but the big thing is what it means for High School Basketball if it does hit Minnesota?

A couple of different people out there think that it is a terrible idea to have a shot clock in high school basketball, but why?

Well, I think that Wisconsin is trying to make the game more NBA-like. I am not so sure that is a good thing. It may make the game more entertaining, because teams will not be able to run out the clock as much. But is that a good thing? Would this not force players to take bad shots at the end of the shot clock? Is that something we want to teach the student-athletes?

I do not think so. I do not find a reason to have a shot clock. I almost seems like we are forcing the players to be something that they are not. All it will do will wreck the game.

Plenty of states have used this method including Massachusetts, Maryland, Rhode Island, Washington, New York, California, North Dakota and South Dakota, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

It will be interesting to see if Minnesota follows suit, and puts in a shot clock. Do I think they will? Probably. Is it a good idea? Probably not.

What do you think?
