St Paul (KROC AM News) - Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has modified his earlier order dealing with in-person worship services in the state.

He announced Saturday he will now allow churches, synagogues, mosques, funeral homes, and other venues that offer gathering space for weddings, funerals, and planned services such as worship, rituals, prayer meetings and scripture studies to begin holding gatherings of 25-percent  capacity or a maximum of 250 people.

Before hosting groups over 10 people, they must develop and implement a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan.

The new order takes effect on May 27th.

His earlier order limited worship gatherings to no more than 10 people. That led to a backlash from some religious leaders and others. Minnesota Catholic and Lutheran leaders even defied the governor’s order and passed the word to local churches to resume services on May 26th.

The governor’s new order also includes safety requirements.
