Minneiska, MN (KROC-AM News) - The body of an elderly man was recovered from the Mississippi River in Wabasha County yesterday.

The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office says the 89-year-old man was found in the backwaters of the river in the Weaver Bottoms area between Winona and Kellogg. A news release says a search was launched after an unoccupied fishing boat was found running in circles around 7:30 Monday evening and the victim was located near the boat.

The name of the deceased has not been released and the cause of his death has not been determined.
