According to reports, the Vikings have released kicker Blair Walsh.

Is this a surprise? Not really. Walsh has struggled mightily this season, as he has made 12 field goals on 16 attempts. Not to mention he has missed four extra points this season, too.

It seemed like it was more of a matter of WHEN rather than IF, and the when is today.

It started back on the cold, windy day at TCF Bank Stadium when the Vikings had the Seattle Seahawks on the ropes. Walsh had to make a 27-yard field goal, and it would have sent the Vikings into the Divisional Round of the NFC Playoffs.

He missed, and it has seemed to carry over into the 2016 season. Mike Zimmer was in his corner at the beginning of the season, but after missing several different kicks, including four extra points, it seemed that Zimmer was done with him. The team lost confidence in him, and it was downhill from there.

The Vikings worked out six kickers last week, but I guess they didn't have the "wow" factor that the Vikings were looking for to replace Walsh.

His missed extra point in Washington was the final straw for Walsh, and now the Vikings are expected to sign Kai Forbath to fill the position. Forbath was one of the kickers to work out for the team last week.

What do you think of the move?
