Rochester, MN (KRKOC-AM News) - Work on two major road projects in Rochester has been completed for the 2018 season and will resume next spring.

City officials say 4th Street Southwest, which has been undergoing a complete reconstruction in the downtown area since July, will reopen to one lane of travel in each direction on Wednesday. There will be no on-street parking over the winter as the parking bays have not been paved or marked. When the work resumes next year, crews will be completing the replacement of the sidewalks and parking bays along 4th Street, installing the first on-street protected bike lanes in the city and new traffic signals at 3rd and 4th Avenues.

18th Avenue Northwest is scheduled to reopen Wednesday afternoon. After two years of reconstruction work, crews have replaced nearly the entire roadway from 37th Street to 55th Street. Crews have also added enhanced pedestrian and bicycle facilities, along with a mini roundabout at the 48th Street intersection. The work that still needs to be completed next year mainly involves the section between 41st and 43rd Streets, where new curb and gutter and the roadway pavement have yet to be replaced.
