The Minnesota Twins are desperate for some average pitching. Yes, even just average pitching.

It appears that the Twins have made a move to help that, by targeting Jaime Garcia from the Atlanta Braves, according to Ken Rosenthal and Mike Berardino.

Garcia was a solid pitcher in the beginning of his career, but injuries have really made it difficult for him to continue to pitch at a high level. He has struggled this year Garcia has gone 3-7 with a 4.33 ERA in 17 starts over the past three-plus months for the Braves.

His career as gone much better, as he spend 8 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals, going 62-45 with a 3.57 ERA. Not too shabby if you ask me.

If the Twins are able to get the deal done, Garcia would automatically become their number 3 starter. The rotation would be Jose Berrios, Ervin Santana, Jamie Garcia, Adalberto Mejia and Bartolo Colon, if he doesn't retire. This would also kick Kyle Gibson out of the rotation, which I am sure nobody would complain about.

It would definitely be a solid move for the Twins to add more pitching, and it looks like the Braves would also keep a majority of Garcia's salary (He is making just over $4 million this year).

The deal is not done yet, but the Twins are awfully close to getting better.
