The boy's head basketball coach from Minneapolis Roosevelt posted a photo on his Facebook page Wednesday night of students from Jordan attending the game with a Trump 2020 flag. Coach Michael Walker asked in the post "Please explain how and why this is appropriate at a high school basketball game?"

In the post by Coach Walker, he used various hashtag phrases, some of the phrases included were #criticalquestioning, #blackandproud and #blackmenmatter. The Star Tribune reports that Coach Walker is also the director of his district’s Office of Black Male Student Achievement.

Walker’s post was published on the Star Tribune's website yesterday in an article about the flag and the comments came fast and furious. Some of the comments claimed that the banner was harmless, merely an expression of free speech. Others contend it “was not appropriate” and “the adults” of the Jordan School District should have said so.

The Star Tribune also reported that the School District Superintendent Matt Helgerson released a statement Wednesday afternoon expressing “regret that Roosevelt players and their coaching staff, fans and community were made to feel uncomfortable, as it is always our intent to graciously host our opponents.”

School district personnel are reviewing the situation and will continue to collect information about the event.
