These Are the Busiest Days to Travel This Holiday Season in Minnesota
The 2021 holiday season is shaping up to be much more active than last year, so here are the days that are expected to be the busiest travel days in Minnesota.
Even though Minnesota was just ranked the state with the highest amount of new Covid-19 infections during the last week, it still appears that many more Minnesotans are going to get back to heading out to be with friends and relatives this holiday season.
So if you're going to be heading over the river and through the woods to celebrate the holidays this year, you can expect there to be WAY more travelers out and about this year than in 2020.
That's the word from Triple-A's 2021 Holiday Travel Forecast, who said that 53.4 million people are set to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday, up 13% from 2020. And, Triple-A noted that not only will there be more of us flying this year than in 2020, but the 2021 holiday season is shaping up to be busier at MSP than back in 2019.
And while there will no doubt be more Minnesotans traveling here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes this year, Travel+Leisure reports that as many of us continue to work from home, the holiday travel schedule is going to look a little different this year.
Usually, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (November 24th this year) has been the busiest travel day, and still could be if you're heading out and hitting the highways and interstates in Minnesota. However, Yahoo News says if you're flying, it'll likely be the Sunday AFTER Thanksgiving:
United predicts Sunday, Nov. 28 will be its busiest travel day since before the COVID-19 pandemic decimated the industry. "We're expecting around 450,000 customers," the airline stated in a press release.
