If you're flying out of MSP Airport here in Minnesota anytime soon, here's the skinny about those voices on the public address system.

You probably don't pay too much attention to them-- unless they have information about your flight, of course-- but the voices on the public address system are a BIG deal at airports around the country, and here in Minnesota.

But, the PA voice and the announcements they make at airports IS important. So important, in fact, the airline and travel industry site, The Points Guy, says airports in Seattle, Denver and Las Vegas have all used local celebrities and musicians to voice their PA announcements.

And now, there are ten new voices providing those announcements on the PA at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP). And they might sound familiar to you. They're not celebrities but are instead other MSP employees who won this year's Voices of MSP program.

The airport says the Voices of MSP is "a unique contest that puts a local spin on traditional airport safety and operational public address." MSP says it opens its casting call to employees each November, and a local judging committee then selects winners based on sample recordings from the open audition process.

Ten employees were chosen for public address announcements for 2022-2023 after an open audition process for the annual Voices of MSP program. Those new voices are now featured in MSP’s terminal lobbies and concourses, at automated exits, inside airport trams, at baggage carousels, along moving walkways and elsewhere around the terminal.

So the next time you head through the gates at MSP, take a listen to see if you recognize any of those voices on the PA system-- it could be someone you know!
