So long Champions Tour, and hello to the PGA Tour. Things are coming up Minnesota lately as the PGA Tour made the announcement yesterday that it has entered into an agreement with 3M to have a tour event at the TPC Twin Cities.

The official PGA Tour event will begin next year. The Tour event will be hosted by the nonprofit 3M Open Fund, and the seven-year deal will bring the world’s top golfers to TPC Twin Cities in Blaine for a new FedExCup Season event, the 3M Open, beginning next summer.

The 2019 dates for the 3M Open will be made official in the coming weeks, but Patrick Reusse of the Star Tribune in this article thinks it's going to be July 1-7. Officially we will have to wait until the PGA TOUR’s 2018-19 schedule is announced later this year.

The 3M Open hopes to build off the success and momentum of the 3M Championship, the current PGA TOUR Champions event at TPC Twin Cities. The 3M Championship, which dates back to 1993, will be contested for the last time this year, August 3-5, 2018, with Paul Goydos defending his 2017 title.

The hypothetical dates in July are tough for people like me who enjoy golf, that week I'd rather be up at the lake rather than at the links. Either way fantastic news for the TPC Twin Cities and Minnesota golf fans!
