The Fillmore Central Falcons turned up the pressure on defense, forcing numerous turnovers to get a 98-23 win over LeRoy-Ostrander in the Section 1A pigtail game at Fillmore Central High School Wednesday night.

It was a quick 25-0 run for the Falcons that got things started off on the right foot for them. Along with their great defense, the Falcons couldn't miss. It seemed like every opportunity near the rim was going to drop, and they also connected on seven 3s.

The Cardinals struggled to control the basketball, and the turnovers led them into a hole early. Although Haley Hungerholt finished with 14 points, the squad struggled to get the easy looks at the rim, which is where Fillmore Central thrived.

LeRoy-Ostrander had their moments of solid ball movement, and attacking the Falcons defense, but the early deficit was just too much to overcome.

The Falcons increased their lead to 47-3 with just over five minutes remaining in the half and finished the first half with a 63-16 lead. The Cardinals struggled out of the gate in the second half, and Fillmore Central was able to increase their lead to 84-18, and eventually come away with a 98-23 win.

Paige Donlinger did a great job of forcing turnovers and making it very difficult for the Cardinals to get their offense rolling. Her tough defense also helped her lead the Falcons with 21 points, as Madison Scheevel finished with 19, with five 3s.

The win sends the Falcons to the next round where they will take on the #4 seeded Grand Meadow Superlarks Thursday night.
