The St. Charles Saints exploded in the second half en route to a 107-70 win over the Southland Rebels Thursday night in Adams.

The Saints were hitting shots from all over the floor, but they did their best work in transition. Deflected passes turned into layups and transition 3s, while the Rebels played tough defense, the Saints were just getting shots to fall.

The Rebels tied things up at 10 early in the first half, but then St. Charles when on a 19-7 run to take a 29-17 lead. St. Charles continued to build on that lead throughout the half, eventually going up by 25.

Southland wasn't going anywhere, though. Matt Mueller hit two 3s and the Rebels were able to force some turnovers of their own toward the end of the half to cut the lead all the way down to 12 at the break, 51-39.

St. Charles came out firing to start the second half, and Drew Leistikow was a big reason for it. He does a very good job of cutting and getting to the rim, while also opening up 3-point opportunities for his teammates. Leistikow finished with over 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Jared Landherr was in foul trouble early for the Rebels, having 3 fouls in the first half, but he was still able to finish with 18 points.

The Saints kept their foot on the gas pedal and eventually came away with the 107-70 victory.
