The #1 ranked Spring Grove Lions were able to escape a cold, windy battle in New Ulm against a tough R-T-R team in the quarterfinals. Now, in the friendly confines of U.S Bank Stadium, the Lions will battle the champions of Section 5, #4 ranked Cromwell-Wright.

The Cardinals from Cromwell-Wright rolled their way through the Section 5 bracket, winning their games by a combined score of 146-42. They have a balanced running attack centered around Kannon Korpela and Cameron Cahoon, who have both rushed for 15 touchdowns. Korpela has rushed for over 1,000 yards, while Cahoon is not far behind at 970.

Cromwell-Wright (12-0) is the next tough test for the Lions who are led by their Quarterback Alex Folz. Folz has rushed for 2,257 yards on the year along with 34 touchdowns. Folz is also a proven passer, throwing for over 1,800 yards and 25 scores.

The balanced and high scoring Lions struggled to move the football against a fast R-T-R defense, so C-W will try to follow suit.

The Lions also proved to be balanced, with Noah Elton showing off his speed on a 97-yard touchdown run in the quarterfinals and Kai Bjerke caught the game-winning score with under a minute to go.

This Cardinals offense is no joke, either, as they average over 50 points per game and have allowed just 13 points on the defense side of the ball. They will provide a tough task with their Quarterback, Drew Libbon, who has a combined 30 touchdowns on the ground and through the air.

The 9Man State Quarterfinals will kickoff at 11:30 a.m. at U.S Bank Stadium in Minneapolis with the action heard on 103.1 KFIL.
