Southeast Minnesota Facing A Possible Stormy And Wet Father’s Day
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester’s official weather station near the city airport recorded its first rain of June on Thursday - not much, just .05 of an inch.
The Thursday total at St Marys Hospital was .14.”
Several lines of storm cells moved across southeast Minnesota during the day and into the late evening but like Rochester, most areas reported just small amounts of rain.
Some cells did produce heavy rain and hail in parts of Wabasha and Winona counties, including the Whitewater State Park area where there were some reports of minor flash flooding. Rainfall totals in those two counties were in the 1.5 to 3-inch range.
Dry weather is expected Friday and Saturday but the National Weather Service says there will be a threat of heavy rain and hail on Sunday as another storm system revisits the region. The Rochester area could receive 1 - 2 inches of rain by Sunday evening.
There will be a definite change in the weather after the system moves out. High temperatures on Monday may only reach the mid-60s, the coolest weather since Memorial Day weekend.
