Section Wrestling Starts Tonight!
Section Wrestling kicks off tonight with teams headed across southeast Minnesota. It is one of the money exciting times of the year, as Section 1 has two of the best teams in the state in each class, and have many great young athletes competing.
Section 1A has the top team in the state at 1A in Zumbrota-Mazeppa, who is seeded 1st, and the 4th ranked team in the state in Goodhue, seeded 2nd. The Cougars will take on the winner of #8 St. Charles and #9 Wabasha-Kellogg. The Wildcats will battle the winner of #7 Dover-Eyota and #10 Fillmore Central.
Chatfield landed the 3 seed and will take on the winner of #6 Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson and #11 Triton. #5 Grand Meadow travels to Caledonia to take on #4 Caledonia.
In Section 1AA, the tops two teams are in the same section. Didn't we already see this in football? It looks as if Kasson-Mantorville, seeded 1st and ranked 1st in AA, will have to get through Simley, seeded 2nd and ranked 2nd in AA, in the section final.
Before they even get to that point, K-M will have to take on the winner of #8 St. Thomas Academy and #9 Cannon Falls. Simley will battle the winner of #7 Pine Island and #10 La Crescent. Plainview-Elgin-Millville locked down the 3 seed and will host #6 Byron, while Stewartville is the #4 seed and will take on #5 Lake City.
The atmosphere at these events is always electric and look for the same on that tonight. Look for 103.1 KFIL to have results of the matches on Saturday, as well as during individuals next weekend. Look for results on the team events coming at Noon, 2pm and 4pm on 103.1 KFIL!
