Her voice is distinctive and unsurpassed.  Today marks the birth date of Patsy Cline (September 8, 1932).  Patsy was born with the given name Virginia Hensley in Winchester, Virginia.  Patsy's first hit was "Walkin' After Midnight" recorded in 1957. Many other hits followed including "I Fall to Pieces", "Sweet Dreams", and my personal favorite, "Crazy" written by Willie Nelson.

On March 3, 1963, Patsy performed in what would prove to be her last concert; her final song sung being "I'll Sail My Ship Alone".  In the early evening hours of March 5, 1963, Patsy was involved in a plane crash, the crash occurring in inclement weather. The wreckage was found just outside Candem, Tennessee.  Investigations confirmed that everyone aboard the flight was instantly killed.  Patsy is laid to rest in Winchester, Virginia at Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Patsy was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1973, ten years after her death.  Please enjoy this video of my favorite Patsy Cline song, "Crazy".  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-wJNpWgss8
