A dominant pitching performance and some timely hitting led the Rushford-Peterson Trojans past the Lyle-Pacelli Athletics 5-1 Saturday morning on Cool 104.

The Trojans got things underway by scoring a run in the second when Carter Weidemann came in on a Jake Paulson single for 1-0 lead.

Rushford-Peterson added three more runs in the third when Shawn Marg drove in Ben Ansell, and then Dawson Dahl scored on a sac fly from Carter Weidemann and then Marg scored on an RBI single from Halen Schwendinger to make it 4-0.

The Trojans added one in the fourth on an RBI single from Dawson Dahl to continue the Trojan dominance with a 5-0 lead going into the 5th.

Marg was great on the mound and also picked-off three Athletics off the basepaths. He added six strikeouts while allowing just one run in his seven innings of work.

The Trojans will take on the Athletics again on Tuesday evening with first pitch slated for 5pm. L/P will have to beat the Trojans twice to head to state, while the Trojans only have to win once.
