The South Ridge Panthers scored three runs in the third inning to propel them past Rushford-Peterson in the Class A State Quarterfinals in Chaska Thursday night.

The Trojans got runners on and made life difficult for South Ridge starter Nick Carlson early in the game. Rushford-Peterson put runners in scoring position in the first three innings. After that, they couldn't get a runner past first base.

With the game tied at 1 in the third, the Panthers were able to hit back-to-back two-out doubles to score three runs and take a commanding 4-1 lead. Mason Lane and Matt Clark hit the doubles for the Panthers.

South Ridge got another run in the fourth on an RBI single from Logan Young to take a commanding 5-1 lead.

Nick Carlson then found his groove on the rubber, shutting down Rushford-Peterson in the sixth and seventh innings

The Trojans lone run game in the second inning, when Payton Hahn hit into a fielder's choice to drive in Jake Paulson.

Shawn Marg pitched well in the start for the Trojans, but the two-out doubles were just too much to overcome. Nolan Muller pitched the final two innings of relief, allowing just one run.

The Trojans will take on Hinkley-Finlayson at 12:30pm at the Mini Met in Jordan Friday afternoon. The game will be heard on 103.1 KFIL!
