Rushford-Peterson Falls in State Consolation Final
A great effort for the Trojans falls short, as the Hinkley-Finlayson Jaguars were able to go on a 9-0 run to end the first half, and another 15-8 run to end the second half, to win 56-49.
The Trojans had a great start to the game, jumping out to a 13-5 lead. Yet, the Jaguars were not going to go anywhere. They continued to battle on the inside with Travis Visser, who finished with 20 points.
As the Jaguars battled, the Trojans went on a short burst of their own, leading 24-17 with just under two minutes left in the half. Then, the Jaguars were able to force some turnovers and go on a 9-0 run to take a 25-24 lead into the half.
R-P got a nice start to the second half, but again failed to close the game late when it mattered most. Trevor Johnson hit a 3 to give the Jags a 44-41 lead, and they never let the lead go.
The Trojans turned up the pressure on defense, but couldn't force the turnovers needed, and the Jaguars hit at the line to win it.
Ben Ansell led the way for R-P with 16 points, while Landon Skalet added nine and Payton Hahn had eight.
The Trojans finish their season with a record of 24-9, an incredible season for them.
