Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A rural Olmsted County man who was taking a nap Tuesday morning had a rude awakening. His house blew up.

The 50-year-old man lives at 6696 Collegeview Rd, a few miles east of RCTC.

The explosion occurred around 11:00 AM. The man jumped through a glass window to escape the fire. He was treated for minor cuts and scratches. His house wasn’t so lucky as it was destroyed.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kirby Long says a patrol deputy spotted the smoke about a mile away and reported the fire. Crews from Rochester, Dover and Eyota were still at the scene as of 1:00 PM.

Long says a state Fire Marshal's Office investigator will look for the cause of the explosion.
