From every corner of Olmsted County, bells rang out to signal the beginning of the Salvation Army's most important fundraiser of the year. The Red Kettle Campaign.

At 9 AM this morning (Friday, November 12, 2021) and for 10 minutes, the Mayo Clinic Plummer Building Carillon Bells, the Freedom Bell, and the steeple bells of Assissi Heights, Bethel Lutheran Church, and the Church of St. John rang out!

Flashback to that time James Rabe rang the biggest bells for Rochester Salvation Army.

Red Kettles will be stationed all over Rochester, in Stewartville, Byron, and in Chatfield for the six weeks before Christmas, and ringers are much needed for The Salvation Army to reach its 2021 goal of $1.125 Million.

According to Major Bob Mueller at the Rochester Salvation Army,

Ringers in our community raise an average of $100 an hour when they ring. That’s almost double what ringers raise in other communities around the country, and people’s time makes a huge impact.

All of those dollars are used to feed people every day, to provide for their healthcare, to get and keep people housed, all of these essential but basic needs that are more important in the wake of the pandemic than ever before.

Register to ring now at www.registertoring.com - also, check out RochesterSA.org for more in on regular/seasonal volunteer opportunities.
