Rochester's annual city-wide spring cleaning event is looking for volunteers right now to lend a hand and help make Rochester a Litter Bit Better!

It's always amazing to me just how much trash, garbage and other junk gets tossed into the snow along the roads and highways during our Minnesota winter. And all that stuff is still there now after the snow has melted, and needs to be picked up.

Luckily, the Help Make Rochester a Litter Bit Better campaign is back again in 2022, and is looking for volunteers to help lend a hand:

During a single week in the spring, Rochester neighborhoods, businesses, groups, schools, and individuals will be working together to pick up the litter in our community. You can help by volunteering to help pick up Rochester. It's a great service project for groups like households, families, individuals, and workplaces.

According to the Litter Bit Better website, the campaign started back in 2007 when 1,384 volunteers scoured ditches, parks, and boulevards across the Med City and picked up over 20,000 pounds of trash!

After taking 2020 off due to the pandemic, volunteers were back out making Rochester A Litter Bit Better in 2021, and though the event was somewhat scaled back, 1,775 volunteers picked up trash at 233 different sites across Rochester, equaling 8,780 pounds!
