Rochester Public Library Will Remain Closed on Tuesday
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Public Library will remain closed on Tuesday due to the damage caused by a malfunctioning water softener.
The library was shut down Sunday after it was discovered the plumbing problem had flooded portions of all 3 levels of the downtown building. Library officials say the cleanup continues and they are still assessing the damage caused by the water. Library Director Audrey Betcher says only about three carts of books from the library collection were damaged by the leak, but heavy damage was inflicted on books collected by the Friends of the Library for use in that group’s quarterly sales to benefit public library activities.
The city’s bookmobile has been parked outside the library to provide limited service to patrons until the facility can be reopened.
