Rochester Brewery Creates Special Beer For Boy Awaiting Dual Lung Transplant
This handsome face that you are seeing, is the face of Marcus. Marcus has struggled to breathe since he was baby. According to his COTA page, his family just recently learned what has continued putting him in the hospital for several years - a Surfactant C Deficiency (A very rare, chronic interstitial lung disease, with no cure). Right now, he is in Texas waiting for a dual lung transplant at the young age of 8!
Jack Lester, Marcus' dad, has been a longtime employee at Forager Brewery, and Forager came up with a cool way to give back. They brewed a special edition beer called "Thirsty Lungs." It's a Hazy Double IPA and is currently available in crowlers and on tap. So far, the response has been tremendous, selling hundreds of crowlers in the first couple of days. All the proceeds will be donated to COTA honoring Marcus. My husband is a huge fan of IPA, and he gives it two thumbs up. The beer will be available until September 17th.
Not an IPA fan? You can donate here. OR, join the family at a benefit at The Castle. A Miracle for Marcus will be a family-friendly brunch with live music, indoor games, door prizes and more. Enjoy a bunch of stellar food including a build an omelet station, breakfast tacos, a donut bar, and more. Plus, pair your meal with a mimosa, bloodies, and/or coffee, just to name a few. The fundraiser will go from 11a - 2p on Sunday, October 6th. Click here to get more info and buy your tickets.
