Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - It’s feared a 46-year-old Rochester man drowned Thursday while playing with his dog in Bear Creek.
The family of the man called 911 around 8:45 PM to report he had not returned home. The man had taken his dog to an area near 4th St and 7th Ave SE near Riverside Elementary School around 6 PM and had apparently been throwing a ball into the fast-moving water for the dog to retrieve. The dog and the man's bicycle were found on a nearby bike path but there was no sign of the man.
Rochester officers and firefighters along with some Olmsted County Deputies searched through the evening from near where the dog was found all the way to Silver Lake without finding any sign of the man. The search effort is set to resume today.
The video below shows how strong the current is at the section of Bear Creek where the man apparently went into the water Thursday and remains missing as of 10AM Friday.
