Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A busy thoroughfare in Rochester was closed for several hours Monday evening while authorities cleaned up and investigated a fatal traffic crash.

Reports from the scene indicated a Rochester man was pronounced dead at the scene after a nearly head-on crash involving a small SUV and a minivan on the westbound lanes of 55th Street Northwest less than a half mile east of the Highway 52 interchange. The SUV was traveling west and the minivan was headed east when it apparently crossed the median.

Two other people were injured in the crash, which was reported around 6 PM. Their names and the name of the deceased victim have not been released.
