St Paul (KROC AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 21 more COVID-19 deaths, the highest 24-hour total since the pandemic began.

Thursday’s news comes one day after the department reported 19 new deaths, which was the highest one-day total. The state’s total has grown to 200.

Olmsted County is reporting another COVID 19 death, its 5th so far.  Olmsted County Public Health says the person who died was a man in his 60s who was living in a congregate care setting. Winona County’s total has grown to 13, the 3rd highest county total in the state. Fillmore County is reporting its first COVID 19 death. Fillmore County Public Health says the death "is connected to a congregative living facility outside of Fillmore County."

The MDH's new daily report shows more than 200 new cases have been confirmed, raising the total to 2942. More than half of the patients have recovered.

So far, more than 51,000 tests have been conducted in the state.
