UPDATE: Mall of America Temporarily Closing March 17th – 31st
Our top priority at Mall of America is the health, safety, and well being of our tenants, guests and team members. That is why we will close temporarily from March 17th at 5pm through March 31st.
They went on to say the mall brings people together and will continue to do so once we are past this current situation. This comes after yesterday's announcement about temporarily closing Nickelodeon Universe which you can read below.
The Mall of America has made the decision to close Nickelodeon Universe theme park starting March 18th.
We understand this decision impacts countless visitors – including families who may have planned their spring break vacation here – as well as other tenants, the surrounding hotels and hospitality industry, and most importantly our team members.
Retail and food options within Nickelodeon Universe will remain open for business. Team members of the theme park will also be offered the opportunity to work elsewhere in the property during this time period.
The mall has also given flexibility to retailers in the mall to implement limited hours or temporarily close based on the individual store's needs. All Mall of America events have been suspended until further notice as the US is urging no gatherings over 10 people in size.
As a former Mall of America employee, I urge you to please stay home if you are sick. Those retail workers are exposed to people from all over the world all day long with it being one of the top shopping destinations in North America. If you don't feel well, please don't expose others to that, especially during this time. Play it safe, wash your hands, don't touch your face, and the roller coasters will be ready to ride when this has passed us.
