It's not like we don't have enough to worry about when it comes to protecting our identity. If it weren't for all the data hacks we've had over the last two years this is a scam that would seem far-fetched. It's a fairly new scam of a fraudster calling your phone pretending to be apart of the Social Security Administration, and alerting you to your Social Security Number has been suspended.

A friend of mine got a phone call from a strange number and let it go to voicemail. When she looked at the voicemail to text she was a little surprised by what she found.

We even got the audio!

AARP advises that if you receive a suspicious call from someone claiming to be from the SSA, you should report that information to the OIG at 800-269-0271 or online. If you have questions about a phone call, email, text message or any other type of communication claiming to be from the SSA, you can contact any Social Security office or call Social Security’s toll-free customer service number at 800-772-1213 to make sure it is legitimate. (Social Security’s TTY number for the deaf or hard-of-hearing is 800-325-0778.)
