KFIL is celebrating National Ag Week, March 13-19, 2016.  National Ag Week salutes the hard-working men and women of agriculture who are the backbone of our nation.   According to Hubert Hamer, director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service, data complied by the latest Census of Agriculture found that  "97 percent of all U.S. farms are family owned".  Hamer further states "whether small or large - on the East Coast, West Coast, or the Midwest - family farms produce food and fiber for people all across the U.S. and the world".

As part of National Ag Week, Washington, D.C. hosts events on Ag Day, March 15.  This year the theme for Ag Day is "Agriculture: Stewards of a Healthy Planet".  National Ag Day programs focus on the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products; the value of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy; and encourages considering career opportunities in agriculture, food and fiber industry.

Stay tuned to KFIL all week long for informational messages from Brownfield Ag concerning National Ag Week.  We salute and support area agriculture and thank area producers for their dedication to farming.
