Minnesota’s ‘Haunted Basement’ Attraction Needs Your Help

Just about every aspect of our lives has been impacted by the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, and that includes one of Minnesota's most popular Halloween attractions.

The Haunted Basement is a way-scary Halloween attraction in the Twin Cities. It's been scaring the bejeezus out of Minnesotans since it first opened its doors back in 2005. Last year, the Haunted Basement moved to a new location, in the former Herberger's store at Rosedale Center in the northeast metro, about an hour and a half away from Rochester.

But this year, much like everything else, the Haunted Basement has been hit hard by the economic impact of our ongoing battle with COVID-19. According to this post on their GiveMN fundraising page, the haunt will not go on as usual, mainly because of those pesky social distancing guidelines. That means they won't be able to scare your brains out in their usual, physical manner but are hoping to still scare you by reimagining the attraction.

And, they're asking for your help, financially speaking, of course. Organizers are hoping to raise $80,000 to help put on the new, reimagined production this fall, noting that they'll use the money to pay for things like storage costs, operating costs, and even "stipends for the brains behind the upcoming experience," it noted. So far, they've raised just over $5,500 towards their goal.

I've not been to the Haunted Basement, but I've heard that it's QUITE the experience. Heck, their previous exhibits were SOOO scary, you had to sign a release before you even stepped foot inside! I'm hoping they reach their goal, so that stupid coronavirus doesn't cancel yet another event.
