Once again, Minnesota has topped another national list-- and this time it confirms our affinity for fishing!

Living here in Minnesota, we're used to be at or near the top of many national lists when it comes to our great quality of life, our great schools and educational systems, and, of course, health care. And now, we've topped yet another national list-- and it's all because we like to wet a line.

According to a new survey from BoatSafe.com, Minnesota is the number-one state in the country when it comes to fishing. Specifically, when it comes to geotagged Twitter data. In fact, if you check out this new map, it shows that we're the most data over the last 30 days tracking Tweets about going fishing during COVID-19. This includes hashtags like #fishing, #bassfishing, #fishinglife, and more. Over 100,000 tweets were tracked, the survey said.

Which makes sense-- I mean we ARE the Land of 10,000 Lakes after all, right? So sure, we're going to like to get out and cast a few lines-- especially after we've all been cooped up in our houses for the last month.

And, yes, Minnesota's fishing season IS still on for this year, btw. It hasn't been canceled, as the DNR pointed out when it debunked this false rumor that it wasn't going to happen when our Stay-At-Home order was first issued.

In fact, Minnesota's fishing opener (for walleye, sauger and northern pike) is coming up Saturday, May 9th. The trout season in Minnesota is already up and running, having opened on April 18th. And the musky opener this year is set for June 6th. (You can get more on fishing in Minnesota from the DNR here!)
