Minnesota Employers Still Having Trouble Filling Jobs
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Some new and revised state statistics show Minnesota has now enjoyed job growth over four consecutive months for the first time since February of last year.
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development says the state saw a net gain of 3300 jobs in June, while the states seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 3.3-percent for the third straight month. The department also issued revised job statistics for the month of May, which increased the number of jobs added from just 100 to about 2000.
Over the past 12 months, Minnesota has seen a net gain of just under 21,000 jobs for a job growth rate of only 7-tenths of a percent. DEED Commissioner Steve Grove says the job statistics reflect the difficulties Minnesota employers are facing in finding workers to fill open positions.
The national jobless rate in June was 3.7-percent, while Minnesota’s unemployment rate in June of last year was only 2.8-percent.
