Minnesota is one of the most expensive states in the nation for smokers, according to tot he latest study from Wallet Hub.

Smoking doesn't just ruin your health, but it can also burn a hole through your wallet. Tobacco use accounts for nearly half a million deaths in the country each year and is the leading cause of lung cancer, according to the American Lung Association.

Not only is tobacco deathly, but the cost is also just as huge. Each year, smoking costs the U.S more than $300 billion in both medical care and loss of productivity, according to Wallet Hub. 

Minnesota is one of the most expensive states for smokers, according to the study it cost each smoker $2,125,541 over a lifetime in the state, which is the 8th mosts in the country. The most expensive is New York at $2,458,044, while the cheapest is North Carolina at $1,228,493.
