Milder Than Usual Winter Predicted For Southeast Minnesota
This past winter was brutal. I was hoping it'd be an "easier" winter this year, and it looks like I might get my wish.
According to the Farmer's Almanac, "This winter, we expect to see above-normal temperatures almost everywhere in the United States, except in the Southwest, where we’re predicting a colder-than-normal season. Our milder-than-normal forecast is due to a decrease in solar activity and the expected arrival of a weak El Niño, which will prevent cold air masses from lingering in the North." That means we have a weak El Niño to thank for protecting us from another nasty winter!
As a bonus, I also read that our snowfall should be typical too. The almanac explains, "As for snow, we expect to see below-normal levels of snowfall in areas that normally get snow, with the interior West and a small part of the nation’s midsection being the snowier-than-normal exceptions."
Since my favorite season is fall (and it's right around the corner), I decided to take a look at what our fall outlook was too. They've just seemed super warm to me for the past few years! It looks like we're in for a rainy fall this year.
