Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A traffic wreck in south Rochester early Thursday led to the closure of a busy intersection and left a man fighting for his life.

A Rochester Police Dept. spokesman says a Kemp’s tanker truck headed north on S. Broadway around 4:00 AM collided with a car that was westbound on 16th St. A witness told police the truck driver appeared to have the green light.

The man driving the car was taken to St. Marys Hospital. He underwent emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries. No word yet on his medical condition.

Police were not able to provide an identification of the man as of Thursday morning.

The busy 16th St/ S Broadway intersection was closed about 4 hours.
