The bats were working early for the #2 ranked and Section 1A West Champion Water-Elysian-Morristown as they took down the Mabel-Canton Cougars in the Section 1A Softball Championship at Todd Park in Austin 10-0.

The Cougars had a tough time against the Bucs starter Trista Hering. Hering, who came in with an .48 ERA coming into the game, was dynamite. The Cougars had one hit in the game but had great at-bats. Mabel-Canton just couldn't find a way to get the ball to fall on the ground when needed.

The Bucs attacked early. They plated six runs in the second that was all started on a bases-clearing three-RBI double by Ellie Ready. W-E-M then tacked on three more runs on RBI singles from Autumn Taylor, Delaney Donahue and Allison Rients.

The Cougars were unable to get another base runner after the second inning, then W-E-M took care of business with two runs in the third and fourth innings.

Emily Carlon took the loss for M-C while Jordyn Newgard had the lone hit for the Cougars.

The Cougars finished the season as the Section 1A East Champions and Section 1A Runner-Up with a record of 15-8.
