Lynx Will Move The Home Court Again For Playoffs
The Minnesota Lynx at 17-2 are a pretty good bet to make the playoffs that start in September.
But there is a problem. The renovations to the Target Center will not be done yet. And by then the Minnesota Wild will be ready to get back on their ice for some workouts. So the Lynx will be talking the playoff games to Williams Arena. That's right The Barn.
Gopher alums like Lindsay Whalen would probably be thrilled to be back in the Barn, but it can't be a super thing to change courts heading into the playoffs.
According to the Lynx, attendance has been up at the Xcel Energy Center. I know when they are at the Target Center there are parking conflicts when the Twins are also in town.
There is one other catch to playing at Williams Arena. Air conditioning or the lack thereof at the Barn. So the Lynx will be putting in some temporary air conditioning. The WNBA’s top two teams automatically receive byes into the best-of-3 playoff semifinals. The championship round is a best-of-5 series.
The Lynx have previously played three preseason games and one regular season game at Williams Arena in the course of the team’s history. They’ve also played two preseason games at the Sports Pavilion.
